The popular pickup truck roll-up tonneau cover is the least expensive. It’s attached with clamps or if you use snap downs, requires some light drilling. They can be simply folded up and stored in bed or backseat.
One can purchase tonneau covers to cover differently. The least expensive cover is the roll-up canvas tonneau cover. Also there are the retractable tonneau cover, the fiberglass tonneau cover, the folding tonneau cover style and aluminum and “drop down” truck bed cover styles.
Roll-up tonneau covers for pickup trucks are the cheapest in cost and are popular. They are attached with clamps and some may require a little drilling to install. This may not be the best choice if you live in a high crime area as your valuables will not be protected. However, the tonneau covers take up little space and you can easily roll them up and set them aside.
As opposed to a hard tonneau cover, retractable ones are available to give you the ability to haul large items without taking out the cover. It does need some room at the front of the bed for the storage canister but it is a very good value anyway.
Fiberglass Tonneau Covers: Are extremely weather-tight but are heavy. You would need to remove to haul large objects and removal requires a bit of effort. Expect them to weigh in the neighborhood of 150 pounds and are usually painted to match the color of your truck.
Folding Tonneau Covers are a good deal compared to expensive hard and retractable covers. They could leak a little, but they are durable and are more affordable that covers made of fiberglass.
Aluminum Tonneau Covers: Highly engineered gives the flexibility of having a hard tonneau and the ability to haul larger objects without removing the cover from the bed. These type covers will sacrifice some space for storage canister at front of bed.
”Drop Down” or ”Retractor Type” truck bed covers are the newest of the truck bed covers. It gives you access to the bed of the truck without having to take off the cover. The retractor also can be locked every 12 inches if you’d like.
